Tool Kit Terms

Roto Rugged: A case that is spin molded or rotationally molded. The construction ensures the plastic is evenly distributed allowing for the wall thickness of this case to be more uniformed. This reduces stress during the manufacturing process with 25% more material used in the corners, which provide for a heavier case and longer life span.

Injection Molded: Polypropylene is shot through a nozzle (plastic is in a resin form) and covers the mold. You are not stretching the plastic, therefore the corners are not thinner than the walls.

Vacuum or Thermo-Formed: Plastic which begins in sheet form, is heated, and then drawn or sucked down into a vacuum box, which the forming tool enters and cools, and forms the case. Polyethylene-HDPE (high-density polyethylene) is the material used for this type of case. It is resistant to many solvents and chemicals. HDPE will retain its strength characteristics. It will not rust or corrode and is not affected by high or low temperature change.

Ridges: Ridges are designed in the cases for additional strength and longer wear.

Bumpers: Wrap-around-bumpers were added to our military style cases for more durable, rugged use. These bumpers also serve as shock absorbers.

Nylon: A very strong canvas like material. Produced from heavy-duty 1000-denier nylon, made for strong wear and is tear resistant. This rugged material has a water-resistant backing. We also carry soft cases made from cordura by Dupont same feature as nylon.

Tool Pallet: A panel of pockets or tool containment devices designed to accommodate our full line of tools. Pockets are sewn and reinforced with rivets at pressure points for added durability.

Handles: Military style handles are spring-loaded and stay closed when not in use. Other style handles include a double padded steel core handle made to provide comfort and protect the hands while being carried.

Locks: A securing device, which locks by means of a key or combination. Styles include chrome or black latches that pull down over the hasp and military styles, which are cam activated twist locks, that are better suited for rugged use.
